Battlefield 3

One of the big complaints PC gamers had with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was the Frostbite Engine’s focus on consoles. It made the PC version of Bad Company 2 feel a little like a console port, even though it was a lot of fun.
That won’t be the case with the recently announced Battlefield 3, according to DICE. The new Frostbite 2 engine has been constructed with PCs in mind, while remaining multi-platform. This allows DICE to utilize of all sorts of PC technology, like multi-core optimization, multi-threading support, compute shader support, and tesselation. It will also take advantage of 64 bit OS installs.
For PC, I’d like to get back to big scale 64 player.
i bin so föcking pömped es isch unglaublich!Perhaps PC players will get their own maps, or maybe console maps will be based on the PC maps but scaled down considerably — both seem like entirely plausible scenarios.
hoffenti baldEurogamer: How's development on Battlefield 3 going?
Patrick Soderlund: It's going well. I'm very happy with what we have and I'm really excited about showing it to the world because we have something that is going to be very, very cool.
Eurogamer: When will you show it?
Patrick Soderlund: You'll see. You'll know probably sooner than I will. You are going to be able to see it in the not too distant future. The marketing guys would kill me if I told you when.
Eurogamer: The Battlefield franchise now is massive. What's next for Bad Company?
Patrick Soderlund: Battlefield 3 will be seen as a true sequel to Battlefield 2. But considering the success of Bad Company, we haven't buried that at all. It's something we're looking at what to do with.
But right now we're focused on making the best possible game for consumers to enjoy, and that's obviously Battlefield 3.
